Leaving Hays

I spent the entire day packing. Well maybe not the entire day... the other parts of my day were spent reading Facebook where everyone complained that they were packing too. It may be strange to say but I've loved packing today! I got rid of all the excess stuff that I didn't need (ex. two year old scar cream, candles with wicks drowning in their own wax, plastic 'brass' knuckles) and was also able to relive my year by coming acrossed things I didn't realize I'd kept, like my Bonnaroo bracelet. (I didn't even remember that we had to wear bracelets...) When all my stuff is organized and clean, I feel much more at peace because its as fresh a start as I can give myself.

I've lived in four different places in Hays for the past three years. So packing and unpacking is not new to me. But everytime I pack it's very interesting to relive what I've been through while at that spot through forgotten ticket stubs and letters. I would be lying to say that I'm going to miss this place. The only thing I will miss is the people I met and the memories I've made. But I can't go back to those memories. I'm grateful for them and everything I've learned, but they are gone now. I feel there is nothing left for me in "Hays, America". Its time for me to pack up once more, and move on.

Next week, I will be moving in with a friend of mine in Manhattan and I could not be more excited. [Side note: I would like to be fair to the people in my life and not post their actual names here. This isn't so I can get away with talking smack because believe me, when they find out what nickname I give them, they'll know who they are.] So my girl, BoyCrazy and I will be living it up this summer in Manhappenin' and looking to move to New Jersey by September. It's so scary since we've lived the majority of our lives in Small Town, Kansas but its a good scary. So keep up to date with the move by reading this blog and I will hold up my end of the bargain by letting you know via Facebook when I've written a new post.

Please feel free to listen to my song of the day. I guarantee it will be musical version of the way I'm feeling when I post. Or it will just super fun/weird/inspiring which is also a plus. Until next time--
