A great thing about living with BoyCrazy is that she has a ton of friends from all different walks of life. It makes the house pretty exciting because someone new is always stopping by to hang out for the night. Last night, I wasn't really in the mood to be social but when people come over, I push myself to be outgoing. Especially since I've just moved to a new town, I feel its important to be open to every opportunity. So whenever I protested about going out or having another drink or playing a game, BoyCrazy's friend would just say, "For the story!" And I was convinced.
At first I asked him what he meant. "What story?" And he answered he didn't know but if I wanted "the story" I had to do it. Since I belong to the generation of YouTube and Facebook, it was easy to persuade me. We all want to have the newest, coolest, most unique story. We post pictures of us having a great time in Florida or just a random Saturday night. We keep up to date with Youtube videos like first person point of views of the tornado in Joplin, MO so that we have something to talk about. Not only is it important to have our own story but its just as important to pay attention and remember others' stories as well.
Forcing myself out of my comfort zone for the sake of having "the story" is not exactly admirable. Its a very vain attempt to seem cooler than I actually am to others. But who am I to talk? I'm the one with a blog, not you. Honestly, if telling myself "For the story!" is what it takes to get me to take risks that I otherwise wouldn't take, then so be it. Everyone keeps telling me that I just need to find something in life that makes me happy. How else will I be able to find what makes me happy if I don't go out of my way to experience everything that life has to offer? So from now on I will do it "for the story"!
